Kristin started doing search and rescue with her husband, Nick Blackman in 2009. They joined a team in hopes of working with their dogs while helping to save others. Kristin quickly fell in love with search and rescue work and began attending seminars all across the United States. She has become an instructor and evaluator for various National Association of Search and Rescue (NASAR) classes and certifications. Kristin’s first rescue canine, Phoenix, was previously certified in trailing level II prior to his retirement in 2014, since then Kristin has been working with her new canine, Havok a rescued Dutch Shepherd that is quite true to his name. Kristin and Havok work together as a very fast trailing team. Kristin was one of the founding members of Alpha Search and Recovery and has served as president since the team’s inception.
