If you would like to help:
Alpha SAR does not coordinate spontaneous volunteers. Houston and all surrounding areas are asking for further outside assistance to stand down. There is no safe way to get into the area including, Galveston, Brazoria, Harris, and Fort Bend Counties. If you are on the way, please return safely home or to a shelter. Mandatory Evacuation orders are being issued throughout the area. The high water is rising, the rain continues to fall. Please do not head into that area. It is not safe. If you are already in the area and have resources available to help, such as boats, please contact your local Emergency Operations Center (listed above) to coordinate assistance.
To assist with recovery efforts, please consider donating money to the various groups that are assisting. Monetary donations at this time will assist the teams out recovering the best. The National Voluntary Assistance Organizations Active in Disasters website has a good section for organizations to donate to that may be assisting with the disaster: https://www.nvoad.org/voad-members/national-members/
